This 20-hour course is split over two and a half days and introduces the theoretical aspects and concepts of the MAPS method for mechanical diagnosis of hand alterations and the practical application of the MAPS 3D board techniques and its accessories, for the treatment of hands with more complicated types of dysfunction.

The training course consists of five 4-hour theoretical and practical workshops, each with a half-hour introduction. The workshops will focus on the use of the MAPS Air kit, the MAPS 3D board, the MiniMAPS kit and the Accessories Plus set. As this is an essentially practical training course, it is carried out in person.

In this seminar, we will deal with practical issues such as stabilisation of the parts of the hand that are more difficult due to their anthropometry and the positioning on a transversal plane of certain movements such as those of the thumb, little finger, forearm and wrist.

The practical application of these methods in case studies will allow us to discuss the indications and contraindications of the method.

Course aims

By the end of the course, students will have a better knowledge of the pathomechanics of the hand and the technical approach using MAPS Therapy for purposes such as:

  1. locating the main mechanical alterations likely to cause functional difficulties;
  2. recognising the complex mechanical alterations in hand lesions;
  3. differentiating mechanical alterations from other types that can also contribute to alteration and resolving these technically;
  4. synthesising the clinical findings in a clear physiotherapy diagnosis;
  5. organising the treatment in a sequential, progressive and systematic manner;
  6. applying all of the techniques introduced in the course with the 3D board and accessories.
